Information we collect
This website does not ask for an account. When you subscribe to the newsletter, you do so on Substack, which collects your email address under its own privacy policy. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send.
With your consent where the law requires it, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used: pages viewed, the site or campaign that referred you, approximate location, device and browser type, and which links you click (for example, whether you chose Spotify or YouTube).
Cookies and your choice
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to tell visits apart. We use no advertising cookies and no ad pixels. We store your cookie choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are not measured with cookies until they accept. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal until you choose otherwise.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: , or use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Declining removes the analytics cookies.
How we use information
- To understand which episodes, articles, and pages are useful, and improve them
- To see which platforms and campaigns bring people to the show
- To respond to your messages
We do not sell personal information.
Third-party services
Episode pages embed players from YouTube (in privacy-enhanced mode, loaded only when you press play) and Spotify. Those services may set their own cookies when you use them. Links to Substack, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, LinkedIn, and guests' sites are governed by those sites' policies.
Google may process analytics data in the United States. Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics and then deleted.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
